More pet food and treat recalls – Pet Center Inc. lamb treats and Hill’s Science Diet
Pet Center Inc. Recalls Lamb Crunchy’s Dog Treats
The suspect treats were made at a Los Angeles-area manufacturing facility and shipped with a UPC, or bar code, number of 727348200038 and date code of 122015 to retailers in California, Wisconsin, Colorado and Washington.
A random sample from Colorado was tested by that state’s Department of Agriculture and was found to have salmonella.
The questionable treats would have been distributed through Gelson’s Market in California, General Pet in Wisconsin, Nor-Sky Pet Supply in Colorado and Independent Pet in Washington.

Pet Center Inc. urges those who might have purchased these treats to not feed them to their dogs and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
In another salmonella scare, Hill’s Pet Nutrition Inc., a pet food manufacturer based in Topeka, Kan., voluntarily recalled 62 of its 15.5-pound bags of Science Diet Adult Small and Toy Breed dry dog food.
The suspect bags, part of a single production run, were distributed to 17 veterinary clinic and pet store customers in California, Hawaii and Nevada between April 24 and May 13, 2014.
The recalled products fall under the store keeping unit, or SKU, 9097, with a best-before date of 08 2015 and production code M094 on each bag.
All 17 affected customers have been contacted by Hill’s and there have been no reported illnesses related to this product to date.
Consumers who might have purchased any of the questionable Science Diet Adult Small and Toy Breed dry dog food should stop using it and call Hill’s Pet Nutrition at 800-445-5777.
Hill’s will arrange to collect the unused portion of the product at its own expense at a time convenient for the consumer and will provide a full refund.
Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.
